Ms. Sachar reported and wrote Schools for the Global Age, a 50-page report funded by the Goldman Sachs Foundation detailing best practices in global education at nine American schools. She also co-authored a 2008 report describing how to set up a school with an international focus.
For her work on Schools for the Global Age, Ms. Sachar interviewed dozens of teachers, parents, students and alumni at each of nine schools and drafted narratives to detail the steps each had taken to provide a more "international" curriculum and experiences. She also developed a rich template with detailed facts about each school that served to anchor the story of each school.

"Emily Sachar is a big, big talent who has the rare ability to dig into a complex project with equal doses of insight, wit and reporting skills par excellence. She has a quality mind, an eye for meticulous detail, and can turn a phrase to make a story sing or help a report come to life. Perhaps most impressively, she has a focused energy that makes meeting the most ambitious deadlines possible, and fun. And as a former teacher, she gets education in a nuanced way that basically no one who manages digital media these days can even approximate."
